Astrology may be ancient, but AstroTalk has built a remarkably modern business around it.
The Delhi NCR-based platform has entered India’s unicorn club after conducting an ESOP buyback at a $1 billion valuation, making it the country’s 133rd unicorn. More than 100 employees reportedly participated in the buyback, creating a meaningful liquidity event for the company’s workforce.
Founded in 2017 by Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain, AstroTalk has grown from an online astrology consultation platform into a broader consumer and spiritual commerce business.
The numbers Tell the Story
📌 $1 Bn valuation
📌 133rd Indian unicorn
📌 ₹2,500 Cr claimed ARR
📌 4 Cr+ users served
📌 ₹1,176 Cr FY25 operating revenue
📌 ₹250 Cr FY25 net profit
📌 ₹300 Cr Astrotalk Store ARR
The company's FY25 operating revenue nearly doubled from ₹651 Cr to ₹1,176 Cr, while net profit increased 2.5X from ₹100 Cr to ₹250 Cr.
That profitability is particularly notable in a startup ecosystem often dominated by growth-at-all-costs narratives.
From Consultations to Commerce
AstroTalk's next growth engine is increasingly coming from spiritual ecommerce.
Launched in November 2024, Astrotalk Store sells gemstones, rudraksha, bracelets, necklaces and other spiritual products. The business generated more than ₹140 Cr in operating revenue during its first 12 months and has since reached a claimed ₹300 Cr ARR.
Now, the company is preparing for its next phase.
🏪 Offline retail: First experiential outlet planned in Delhi NCR
🌎 International expansion: Ecommerce launch planned for the US
🎯 Target market: Growing demand among the global Indian diaspora
AstroTalk's unicorn milestone therefore represents more than a valuation headline. It reflects the creation of a profitable, digitally native consumer brand that has successfully connected traditional belief systems with technology, ecommerce and global distribution.
The bigger question now is whether AstroTalk can turn its $1 billion milestone into a much larger global consumer story.
